Method
Looking for a sandwich that's a complete meal? This entrecote sandwich is a perfect combination of quality meat, sweet onions, and a soft bun — an elegant, quick, and indulgent solution for a hot meal at home.
Ingredients:
- 600–700 grams entrecote (whole)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Coarse salt and ground pepper
- 2 sliced onions
- 4 hamburger buns
- Mustard sauce / Parve aioli / tahini (optional)
- Green leaves (arugula/lettuce) – to taste
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional – for caramelizing the onions)
- To serve: Fresh fries and sauces on the side
How to prepare:
Roasting the entrecote:
- Season the entrecote piece with coarse salt and pepper.
- Sear in a hot griddle pan or roast in the oven on high heat (220°) for about 20 minutes, depending on the desired degree of doneness.
- Let rest for 10 minutes and slice very thinly.
Preparing caramelized onions:
- Fry the onion with a little oil and brown sugar over low heat for about 15 minutes until deep golden brown.
Assembling the sandwich:
- Cut the bun, spread sauce of your choice, add green leaves.
- Place a generous layer of hot entrecote slices and caramelized onions on top.
- Close and serve immediately with hot fries.
