Sliced entrecote sandwich with onions

Looking for a sandwich that's a complete meal? This entrecote sandwich is a perfect combination of quality meat, sweet onions, and a soft bun — an elegant, quick, and indulgent solution for a hot meal at home.

Ingredients:

  • 600–700 grams entrecote (whole)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Coarse salt and ground pepper
  • 2 sliced onions
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Mustard sauce / Parve aioli / tahini (optional)
  • Green leaves (arugula/lettuce) – to taste
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional – for caramelizing the onions)
  • To serve: Fresh fries and sauces on the side

 How to prepare:

Roasting the entrecote:

  • Season the entrecote piece with coarse salt and pepper.
  • Sear in a hot griddle pan or roast in the oven on high heat (220°) for about 20 minutes, depending on the desired degree of doneness.
  • Let rest for 10 minutes and slice very thinly.

Preparing caramelized onions:

  • Fry the onion with a little oil and brown sugar over low heat for about 15 minutes until deep golden brown.

Assembling the sandwich:

  • Cut the bun, spread sauce of your choice, add green leaves.
  • Place a generous layer of hot entrecote slices and caramelized onions on top.
  • Close and serve immediately with hot fries.
